Overview
Embedding a video on a WordPress page does not by itself provide search engines with details about the video. Yoast Video SEO Premium adds VideoObject structured data and creates a dedicated video sitemap, integrating it into the site's existing XML sitemap. These tools give search engines information about video content and help them discover videos on the site.
The plugin supports videos hosted on YouTube and Vimeo, along with custom video thumbnails that can be previewed before publishing. It also adjusts video sizing for different devices, uses asynchronous JavaScript for video content, and adds OpenGraph tags for social sharing previews. This makes it useful for WordPress sites that publish embedded videos and want to manage video metadata and presentation.
