Version 4.29.5 — 17 October 2026
- Fixed Search phrase : a search phrase that contained one of the query's internal placeholders could potentially inject SQL, with the default settings.
- Fixed Plugin updates : The public search API can be paged (a new page parameter) now that each request returns at most 100 results.
- Fixed Search box shortcodes : the id, element, width and extra class attributes of the search, results, settings and two-column shortcodes are cleaned, so a contributor cannot place script through them.
- Fixed Synonyms : a stored synonym is escaped before it reaches the taxonomy term search, so a synonym with a quote can no longer break the query.
- Fixed Search statistics : on a multisite, a site administrator reads and exports only their own site's statistics, and the "user searches" block lists only its own site's phrases.
- Fixed Results cache : a response is cached under exactly the search options it depends on, with a cap on the number of entries, so the cache cannot be flooded or poisoned.
- Fixed Robustness : a huge page or result number returns an empty page instead of a PHP error, and a malformed or unknown search id is treated as no instance.
