Overview
As a site’s media library grows, its files can take up substantial space on the web server. WP Offload Media sends media files to cloud storage and can serve them from there. It supports images, videos, documents, and other assets, with options for Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, and Google Cloud Storage.
The plugin can also move an existing media library to cloud storage, with uploads that can be paused and resumed. You can keep local copies or remove them after offloading. For sites with development, staging, and production environments, media can be shared from one cloud library. This setup also suits load-balanced WordPress sites where servers need access to the same media.
Features
- Cloud storage providers: Offload WordPress media to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage, moving files away from local server storage.
- CDN media delivery: Serve media through Amazon CloudFront or other CDNs, with cloud-hosted assets available to site visitors.
- Existing library migration: Move media already in your WordPress library to cloud storage. The process can be paused and resumed.
- Local file options: Choose to retain local media files alongside cloud copies or remove local files after they have been offloaded.
- Cloud versioning support: Use cloud storage versioning to retain earlier media versions and restore previous or deleted files.
- Shared media library: Configure development, staging, and production environments to use a shared media library in cloud storage.
- Offload progress controls: View media offloading progress on the plugin’s settings page and pause or resume uploads as needed.
Best for
- WordPress blogs with growing media libraries
