Overview

WordPress pages are generated in response to visitor requests, which can add work for a site's server. Comet Cache Pro saves static copies of pages and content, including posts, categories, and tags, so those copies can be served to visitors. This approach helps reduce server load while giving site owners a way to manage caching without handling each cached page manually.

The plugin can clear selected cache files when site content changes, and site owners can set cache expiration times to match how often their content is updated. Additional options include browser caching, feed and 404 page caching, HTML compression, and caching for logged-in users. CDN support and URL or user-agent exclusions provide further controls for sites with specific caching needs.

Features

  • Page and post caching: Save static copies of entire pages, posts, categories, and tags so WordPress does not need to generate each cached view on every request.
  • Automatic cache clearing: When content changes, the plugin selectively clears the cache files related to the change, helping keep cached pages aligned with site content.
  • Cache expiration controls: Set automatic cache expiration times to fit how often your site's content changes and how long cached copies should remain available.
  • Browser and feed caching: Allow visitors' browsers to cache content and cache RSS, RDF, and Atom feeds for delivery to feed readers and aggregators.
  • Logged-in user caching: Cache content for registered users who are logged in, a useful option for membership sites and community-driven WordPress sites.
  • Cache exclusions: Use customizable patterns to exclude specific URLs and user agents from caching, giving site owners control over which requests the plugin handles.
  • CDN and HTML options: Connect the cached content with a content delivery network, and compress HTML output to reduce the size of cached pages.

Best for

  • WordPress blog owners
  • Membership site managers
  • Community-driven WordPress sites

Changelog

Version 170220

  • New New Feature: Comet Cache can now be configured to automatically clear the cache for date-based archive views whenever any single post is cleared due to changes in content, title, etc. See: Dashboard → Comet Cache → Plugin Options → Automatic Cache Clearing → Auto-Clear "Date-Based Archives" Too?. See also: Issue #724.
  • New New Pro Feature: Apache Optimizations now include a new option that allows site owners to enforce an exact host name for all requests. See: Dashboard → Comet Cache Pro → Plugin Options → Apache Optimizations → Enforce an Exact Host Name?. See also: Issue #101.
  • Fixed Apache detection sometimes inaccurate. So instead of using default WP core globals for server detection, Comet Cache now uses it's own set of Apache/Nginx/IIS detection functions. And, this release enhances our Apache and Nginx detection routines; making them smart enough to catch additional edge cases; i.e., to further reduce the likelihood of there being a false-positive. See Issue #748.
  • Fixed Some XML-RPC and REST API requests were being cached inadvertently. See Issue #855.
  • Fixed Broken textarea field due to `white-space:nowrap` in Firefox. See Issue #866.
  • Fixed This release resolves empty directories being left in the cache folder, in some scenarios. See Thread #866.
  • Fixed Bug Fix (Pro): Some REST requests were being redirected incorrectly whenever Apache Optimizations were enabled. See Issue #855.
  • Fixed Compatibility Bug Fix: Some Jetpack API calls were being cached inadvertently. See Issue #855.
  • Improved Notes in HTML source now indicate fully functional on first load for improved clarity. See Issue #860.
