Overview
A busy WordPress dashboard can be harder to navigate when different users need different tools. Admin Menu Editor Pro lets site managers reorganize menu and submenu items with drag and drop, hide or rename entries, and create custom menu sections. These controls help shape the admin menu around a site's workflows and the people who use it.
Set menu visibility for user roles or individual users without changing their WordPress roles. Custom links can point to posts, pages, or external URLs, and section headers can organize menu items without linking elsewhere. The plugin also includes options to adjust menu colors and icons, hide selected plugins from users, and save or transfer menu configurations.
Features
- Rearrange menu items: Drag and drop menu and submenu items to move or group them into an order that fits your site's admin workflows.
- Set menu visibility: Show or hide menu items for selected user roles or individual users without changing their WordPress roles.
- Create custom links: Add top-level or submenu links to posts, pages, or external URLs, or use non-clickable headers to organize sections.
- Choose menu icons: Select icons from Dashicons and FontAwesome, or upload PNG or GIF icons for menu items.
- Adjust menu colors: Change background, text, and icon colors across the menu or set colors for individual menu items.
- Save menu configurations: Export a customized admin menu to a file and import that configuration to reuse it on other WordPress sites.
- Block selected URLs: Set URL access rules by user role for dashboard or frontend URLs. These rules apply to logged-in users.
Best for
- WordPress site managers organizing admin dashboards
- Freelancers setting up client-facing admin menus
- Agencies reusing menu layouts across sites
Changelog
Version 2.37.1 — 3 October 2026
- Improved Added optional checksum and signature verification for plugin updates. It's currently optional because there hasn't been sufficient real-world testing done, but you can switch it to "required" in the "Settings" tab, under "Update verification". The default setting will also be changed to "required" eventually, in a future release.
- New Added a "Block URLs" section to the "Tweaks" tab. It lets you block access to certain URLs by role(s). It works both with admin dashboard URLs and frontend URLs. This only affects logged-in users since anonymous visitors don't have any roles.
- Improved Tested up to WP 7.1.2.
