Password Protected Categories

Protecting a whole category gives site owners a way to keep related posts together behind an access check. Password Protected Categories supports passwords for categories, including subcategories, and lets you assign more than one password to a category. This can suit a private blog, client portal, invite-only event area, or protected product section without requiring individual accounts for every visitor.

Access can also be granted automatically to logged-in users or selected user roles. The plugin supports categories associated with custom post types, such as products, events, and portfolios, including those used with Easy Digital Downloads and The Events Calendar. Visitors can use a central login page, and entering a password can redirect them to the corresponding protected category. Protected categories and posts are set to no-index.

Features

• Protect categories with passwords: Set a password for a category to restrict access to its posts and subcategories, keeping related content within one protected area.
• Use multiple passwords: Assign multiple passwords to a category so different groups can access the same protected content with their own credentials.
• Grant role-based access: Automatically unlock protected categories for logged-in users or selected user roles, offering an alternative to password entry.
• Protect custom post types: Restrict categories associated with custom post types, including products, events, and portfolios.
• Central login page: Give visitors one place to log in. After they enter a category password, they are redirected to the matching protected category.
• Set private content to no-index: Protected categories and their posts are automatically set to no-index, keeping them out of search engine results.
