How to import a template kit
A template kit is a ZIP file of ready-made Elementor designs: full pages, parts such as a header and footer, and the kit’s own colours and fonts. You add it to your site with the free Template Kit Import plugin, then use its templates on any page.
Before you start
- Elementor is installed and active, and Elementor Pro too if the kit needs it.
- The kit’s ZIP file, downloaded from its page in the store. Don’t unzip it.
Import the kit
- Install Template Kit Import
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins › Add Plugin, search for Template Kit Import, then click Install Now and Activate. The plugin is free. - Upload the kit
Go to Tools › Template Kit, click Upload Template Kit (Zip File) and choose the kit’s ZIP file. The kit opens with a card for each of its templates. - Install what it needs
If an orange bar says requirements are missing, click Install Requirements, leave everything ticked and click Install Above Selected Requirements. Premium plugins such as Elementor Pro are not installed this way, so install and activate them yourself. - Import the kit’s styles
On the Global Kit Styles card, click Import Template, so your site uses the kit’s colours and fonts. - Import the templates
Click Import Template on each template you want. Import each one only once. A big page can take a few minutes while its images are copied to your Media Library. - Use a template on a page
To use a template, edit a page with Elementor, click the folder button (Add Template), open the Templates tab and click Insert next to the template, then Publish.
Import only the templates you need, because each one adds its pictures to your Media Library.
If something goes wrong
The ZIP file won’t upload
Upload the ZIP file you downloaded, not an unzipped folder. On a Mac, Safari can unzip downloads by itself. To stop it, turn off Safari › Settings › General › Open “safe” files after downloading, then download the kit again. The upload also fails when the kit is bigger than your site’s upload limit, which your host can raise.
A card says Elementor Pro is required
The template uses Elementor Pro’s widgets or its Theme Builder. Install and activate Elementor Pro, then open the kit again.
The page doesn’t look like the preview
Import the Global Kit Styles, check that every plugin the kit needs is active, and set the page’s layout to Elementor Full Width in Elementor’s page settings. Kits are made with the free Hello Elementor theme, and another theme can change their fonts and spacing.
The import stops or takes very long
A big template copies many pictures, and a slow or busy server can stop halfway. Import the templates one at a time. If the import still stops, ask your hosting company to raise PHP’s time limit and memory limit.
