Overview

The plugin adds an auto-renewal checkbox to the checkout process for membership levels. Members can choose whether to opt in to recurring renewals, making their choice clear before they complete checkout. This is suited to sites that offer recurring memberships and want members to select automatic renewal rather than have it assumed.

Site owners can customize the checkbox text, style, and placement to fit their site's design. The plugin is made to work with Paid Memberships Pro and also provides hooks and filters for developers who need to adjust its behavior. It fits into a membership site's checkout flow, where members review their renewal choice.

Features

  • Renewal opt-in checkbox: Adds a checkbox at checkout so members can choose to opt in to automatic renewal for a membership.
  • Custom checkbox text: Change the checkbox label to explain the automatic renewal choice in language that fits your membership site.
  • Appearance controls: Adjust the checkbox style and placement to suit the design of your site's checkout page.
  • Paid Memberships Pro fit: Designed to work with Paid Memberships Pro, placing the renewal choice within its membership checkout process.
  • Developer hooks and filters: Use the provided hooks and filters to customize how the auto-renewal checkbox behaves on advanced site setups.
  • Clear member consent: Shows members an explicit choice about recurring payments, so they can indicate consent to automatic renewal at checkout.

Best for

  • Paid Memberships Pro membership sites
  • Sites offering recurring memberships
  • Developers customizing membership checkout

Changelog

Version 0.4.4 — 16 October 2026

  • Fixed Auto-renewing checkouts now also skip set expiration dates applied by PMPro core, which includes the Set Expiration Dates functionality as of PMPro v3.9. This keeps recurring members from expiring on a fixed date.
  • Fixed Fixed an issue where renewing a recurring level after the current membership's end date had passed could add an incorrect trial period before the first recurring payment.
  • Fixed The auto-renewal checkbox is now hidden after a valid discount code is applied at checkout.
  • Fixed The auto-renewal checkbox label now reads "Yes, renew automatically" when the level cost text is empty, such as for Variable Pricing levels.
  • Fixed Fixed an issue on PMPro versions before 3.0 where cancellations on any page could be delayed until the next payment date if no Cancel page was set.
